In June of 1999 NCIA was formed by a handful of law enforcement officers representing local, county, state, and federal agencies determined to encourage and provide education, interaction, and networking between Crisis Negotiators in the State of Illinois.

Over the past decade NCIA has grown to include over 250 members from law enforcement, correctional, mental health, and criminal justice professionals dedicated to the safe and successful resolution when responding to a variety of crisis incidents. To help ensure that NCIA members are prepared to respond when a crisis strikes, they remain dedicated to the mission of providing members with the most current and effective Crisis Negotiation training, resources, ideologies, practices, and techniques available.
